During Geneva Art Week, Base Window presents PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO GAME, LANDSCAPE, the work of Swiss and Italian artist Pascal Greco. Sublimating virtual worlds down to their inevitable glitches, Greco’s work highlights our increasingly fabricated reality through in-game photography.

Restricted to the confines of his flat during the pandemic, he made his first incursion into simulated landscapes of a distant Iceland in the game Death Stranding, marking the beginning of an artistic quest that would outlive lockdowns. The virtual landscape opened up a liberating horizon before him, conducive to creative escape into an alternative reality that Greco has been exploring for over four years. He’s gone from the Caribbean of Far Cry 6, to Greece of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, to Japan of Assassin’s Creed Shadow, going through California of Cyberpunk 2077... A dozen games in total and just as many backdrops playing the role of their photogenic models. The result is a disturbing travelogue, a collection of landscapes, textures and imaginaries that are as familiar as they are elusive.

Pascal Greco is a Swiss and Italian artist who has worked as a director, cinematographer, editor, artistic director, and photographer. His new project, Photography, Video Game, Landscape, published by IDPURE in March 2026, recounts the continuation of this long-term virtual exploration.
