12.02 - 12.04.26

With Energy in Motion, Lucas Hesse explores what happens when type stops sitting still. His practice, shaped by years of research across graphic design, typography, and motion, investigates how letterforms behave once set into time. Rooted in a path that spans rigorous design training, studio experience, and an independent practice in Hamburg, Hesse’s work treats typography not as fixed shape, but as fluid system. In this exhibition, he presents a series of short, looping animations where type aligns, fragments, stretches, collapses – moving not just in space, but in meaning.

Here, time isn’t a backdrop. It’s a force. Movement carries information. Repetition sharpens focus. Letters morph through rhythm and duration, asking to be watched. Attention becomes physical. Rather than chase readability, Hesse’s animations ask for immersion. Each sequence distills language to its essentials, and then lets it breathe – structured, dynamic, precise.

Energy in Motion affirms animated typography as more than an aesthetic exercise. It’s a field in its own right: one where concept, structure, and visual restraint meet expressive range and digital clarity.
